Community Hero of the Year - 2025
Chathura (CHAD) Dissanayake
We are incredibly proud to announce that our Director, Chathura “Chad” Dissanayake, has been awarded Community Hero of the Year at the Tasmanian Disability Awards 2025, held at Wrest Point.
Chad is recognized for his exceptional passion, leadership, and hands-on approach to disability care. He is dedicated to mentoring support workers, educating students, and directly assisting participants in building their capacity and independence. Going above and beyond his role, Chad regularly volunteers alongside support workers and participants, championing inclusion and empowerment at every opportunity.
His impact extends far beyond disability support through community projects that uplift and empower people from all walks of life. Having mentored over 1,400 support workers and students across Tasmania, Chad has inspired the next generation of professionals in the disability and social work sectors.
This award truly reflects Chad’s unwavering commitment to raising disability care standards and fostering a community built on respect, opportunity, and compassion.
